Woodstock Festival

Angie and I wanted to find the original site of the Woodstock Festival.  Using what I call, “fuzzy logic”, we traveled to Woodstock, New York in search of the original site.  Much to our dismay, the name of the festival did not correspond with the location.

Angie called her father who was at the original site and he told us that the site was located in Bethpage, New York.  So, we traveled there, which was about 45 miles and found a store called the, “Woodstock Emporium”.

Noting the name of the shop and the outside facade, I walked in and asked the lady at the counter where the original site was. She was an older lady in her mid to late 40’s who was dressed much the same way as people did back in 1969 when they attended the festival.  She told me that the site was down the road about a quarter mile and then up the road. So, we drove to the site as we were told.

At last we found the original site but we were dismayed by the fences and signs that banned tresspassing or simply walking on the site.  In addition to the signs, there was a State Police patrol surveying the grounds about every 45 minutes to an hour.

What we did find, however, was a monument dedicated to the Woodstock Festival, which we took many pictures of.
