Mitch Goldman & Thomas Slatin — "Pencils" Skit @ Camp Chateaugay

I can’t believe that this photo is still around!  Apparently my friends from Camp Chateaugay posted this photo of me (on the right), and my friend Mitch Goldman (left) performing a skit entitled Pencils.  It’s really ironic that just two days ago, I was in the area and drove by Narrows Road in Merrill, NY, where camp is located.  I was in the area doing some photography.  By the way, photo credit goes to Justin Port.

The Summer of 2008 — My Personal Retrospect

Yesterday I saw snow on the ground in Upstate New York. Although it’s been officially fall time for well over a month, I still don’t acknowledge the end of summer until I see snow on the ground. This made me a little sad because as soon as spring comes around, I start making plans to do it all, everything, because after all, I have all summer long to do it.

So instead of writing about all the things I didn’t get to, and the handful of projects I started but never finished, I’m going to point out a few highlights and accomplishments of this past summer.

I took a business trip to Florida. Along the way, I stopped in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina (home of South of The Border). Of course, once I crossed the border into Florida, Angie reminded me that I promised her that some day I’d take her to Disney World (6 years ago!). So, after the business deals were done, we took a trip to Walt Disney World Florida. Good times. While I’m still on the subject of travel, I should mention that on the way home, we stopped in Richmond, Virginia to visit the Poe Museum. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the Welcome To Virgina sign, so I will have to stop and do so next time I travel to Virginia for the 50-State Tour.

On a completely different trip (earlier in the summer), Angie and I took a trip to Mount Washington, New Hampshire.  I took a bunch of photos, a few of which are featured on the website.

As far as personal goals are concerned, I got my first book published, and I’m thinking of writing another, though I’m not even close to deciding on what genre I’m going to pursue, though it’s not going to be another book of poetry.

But above all else, I took a ton of photographs and one video of Oswald. Next summer, I plan on hiking a bunch of peaks in the Adirondacks, specifically checking out the Poke-O-Moonshine lookout tower and Mount Marcy. I’ve got all winter to walk around on snowshoes and get ready for the a summer filled with camping, hiking, and kayaking. Oh, and lots more photos and video.

Stay tuned for a lot of updates to the site during the cold winter months when traveling gets more difficult and the cold weather outside keeps folks like me inside because it’s sometimes too much of a hassle to get bundled up to do anything out in the cold.  A few minor improvements were made to the site during the summer months, more improvements are still in the planning & development stages.

New Book Reviews Section

It’s kind of ironic that when I was in grade school, I absolutely hated reading because what I whenever I was assigned a book to read, it always turned out to be a boring one.  Quite a difference high school and college made because during that particular time, I always had a book in front of my face.  I would either be reading a book for class (college books are far more interesting than those assigned as reading in high school), or writing in a notebook.

I’m very messy and unless it has something to do with my business or blog empire, I tend to misplace things.  Suffice to say that many of the books I read, and many of the notebooks filled with very important ideas and information have gone missing some ten or more years ago.  Sadly, I have no idea where they went; they’re either in storage, or got thrown away, or someone stole them.  In all likelihood, they’re at my parents house buried in a closet filled with my old belongings.

Thanks to the Internet, I am now more organized and neat than ever before; on the Internet, that is.  Accordingly, I have decided to review some of the books I’ve read lately, as a new section for my blog.  Believe it or not, everybody is a critic on some level, no matter how small.  If you don’t believe me, check out Amazon.com, where people have gone to the point of becoming almost obsessed with reviewing products.  Everything (or almost everything) on Amazon.com has a review, and it doesn’t matter how small or insignificant, or pointless a product is; the fact is that if someone bought it, they’ve likely come back to review it.

I love WordPressLove it!  Love it!  Love it!  So when I found out that WordPress 2.7 was coming out, I dropped everything to check it out.  Turns out, they need assistance on menu options, as the menu layout is getting re-worked.  Please show your support and voice your opinion and ideas (I did)!

Extreme Blogging Announcement

Middleburgh FD Hello World! Let it be known that I’m taking Angie’s suggestion to make my blog extreme. By extreme, I’m trying to convey the notion that I will post much more often, and in doing so, will create funnier, more outlandish posts.

Why am I doing this?  I’m glad you asked. I’m doing an extreme blog in the hopes that I will attract and keep more visitors coming back for more. I want to be known for having a blog that not only pushes limits, but eventually blows the doors off the Internet.

What kinds of things will be covered?  Another good question (why am I talking to myself???). Pretty much everything. I mean, I’m not going to become a self-obsessed bastard and talk about myself all day long like one girl did when she broke the proverbial camel’s back when she publicly debated colors of nail polish on her blog. I’ll likely post funny, bizarre, and random stuff for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at Andrea’s blog. She was so excited about a product that neutralizes flatulence that she wrote an article about it on her blog! While you’re there, check out the Team of the Week.

By the way, a bunch more stickers are on the way.  I’ll send them to anyone living in the USA or Canada for free, you just need to let me know, and give me your snail-mail address.

More announcements to come soon…
