River Carry Me Away

  • March 24, 1998

Oh river, carry me away.
Far, far away;
Nothing is left for me here.
With your cold, rapid waters,
carry me quickly away from here.
Over the many rocks I shall not notice;
the waters chill my skin until I’m numb.
Carry me away to a better life.
Anywhere is better than here.
With your swiftly charted waters,
oh river, carry me away.

    The poem has a sombre mood to it. You must have been sad when penning it down.

    We all have those days. Sometimes you just wish you could go away.

    Sometimes we all want to be washed away. I like to think when we die our soul gets carried away to a new life-form.

    This is great poem, as if it’s easy to run away with everything. An escape to difficult times. How I wish escape is easy.
