Pride Blogger Tag

This tag originated on Indiecator; I found out about this tag from a blog I follow called A Geek Girls Guide.

Where are you from? What’s your name, age, etc.? Introduce yourself!
I am Thomas Slatin (nice to meet you!) I was born and raised in New York, but have moved to Vermont, and plan to live here for the rest of my life. You can read a lot more about me here.

What are your pronouns?
My pronouns are She/Her/Hers.

How do you feel about pronouns? Have you preferred different ones in the past?
I have always preferred She/Her/Hers my entire life.

What’s your sexuality?
I am a cisgender female, and a lesbian. Not only have I have identified as a female my entire life, I have been exclusively attracted to other females.

How did you find out about your sexuality?
Although I’ve had crushes on female friends as a child, I fell in love for the first time at age 16. At the time, I was working at a summer camp, and was completely in love with this girl named Allegra who was my age.

What sort of labels do you use to describe yourself?
If I had to describe myself, the adjectives I would use would include female, lesbian, hermaphrodite, and intersex. I am very open about my sexuality and my intersex condition.

What is one memory you have that made you think about possibly not being straight?
Every single memory I have in regards to crushes I’ve had have always been on other females my age. My very first crush was in third grade; I had a crush on a girl named Tammy.

Did you out yourself? If so, who did you out yourself, too?
I have always been open and honest about who I am as a person, and who I am attracted to. If I had to specify an exact age of when I came out, I would have to say that I was 16 when I told everyone I know that I’m a lesbian. Those who have known be since childhood have always suspected that I was a lesbian, though I confirmed it at age 16.

What do your parents/family/partner/friends think about the topics?
My father passed away in 2013; my mom accepts me, while the rest of my family doesn’t understand that I was born intersex. I unfortunately lost about half of my friends since posting on my blog and on social media that I was born intersex. My wife Amelia completely accepts and understands me better than anyone.

Have you ever been to a Pride event? (i.e. protests, CSD, parties,…)
When I was in college, I was very active with the college PFLAG chapter, until the university decided to look into the membership list and then start harassing those who were listed. I ended up leaving the university over it.

Do you have someone who’s part of the LGBTQIA2+ community that you admire?
Yes, I know a LOT of people; too many to mention.

Is your sexual orientation different from your romantic orientation?
I am a total lesbian. I am especially attracted to women who are extremely intelligent (like my wife, for example). My wife and I both have IQ scores that are in the top 1 percentile.
