140 Characters

Ever since I was young, I incessantly took notes and wrote down observations. Often times, they were about experiences I had, written generally within a couple of days of the events. I also took many photographs, and countless pages of notes, but put simply, since the age of digital was still years away, many of the photographs failed to capture my true vision, and the pages of writing ended up getting lost, misplaced, or thrown away, either intentionally or by accident.

Thomas Slatin On How He Finds Inspiration

Ever since I started a blog, people have asked me where I find my inspiration. My main source of inspiration comes from real life experiences, which is why the vast majority of my writing is non-fiction. In 2011, I wrote a list of 80 Journal Writing Prompts, which was in response to the repetitive emails asking me for advice for inspiration. The journal writing prompts were posted in April of 2011, and quickly became the most visited post on my blog, and after going viral, received an average of 20,000 visits per day for several months thereafter. I knew I had stumbled upon an idea, if even...

My parents sent me to private school, intending to provide me with a superior education. Midway through third grade, my parents decided to move, and I was forced to repeat third grade, a decision that delayed my graduation from high school by one year.

Copious Notes

Many people with traumatic or unusual life experiences, such as myself, turn to drugs or substance abuse. I turned to writing. And in doing so, I have amassed copious notes based on life experiences and things I have read, learned, written about, and experienced. As humans, our entire existence is constantly subject to change, and the need for documentation has become necessary for us to make the most of our time.

A Notebook For Every Purpose

A Notebook For Every Purpose

Recently, I resumed the arduous task of going through the contents of my fathers estate, and came across a collection of small bound notebooks. I never realized just how much my late father and I had in common, until just recently. As it turns out, he was an avid note-taker like me, and like me, had the compulsion to over-document his ideas, plans, and experiences. Unfortunately, his notebooks are filled with diagrams, schematics, and very high-end scientific mathematical equations that I do not understand. Brilliant work, indeed, but of course, when he was alive I asked him about...

How To Take Essential Notes On Life

Recently I was thinking about my life; how far I have come, and more importantly, where I wish to go next in my journey of life. I thought about my habitual note-taking obsession, and how I always take notes on just about everything, regardless of how mundane or ordinary it may seem to others; if it catches my interest, it will be detailed through extensive, yet very personal and private documentation. In an effort to document the process, I was at a total loss for words as to how to best describe and formally document the process, so after some research, I came across this page which details...
