Amelia and I do too, but we still get lonely when it’s just the two of us and we have no friends or family to speak of. The reason, you ask? Because we’re lesbian. ️

What’s particularly poignant about this photo is that there are actually so many homes like this along state highways, not to mention county roads and backstreets. All of them are in the twilight of their existence, halfway between usefulness and total irrelevance, stubbornly clinging to their former shapes, even as bits and pieces, and entire sections, fall away out of sheer neglect. It’s both beautiful and solemn to behold a structure like this, and you wonder just how many more of these spectacles will dot our byways as the years progress.
