It saddens me that more people don’t recognize the value of having reached Lieutenant in the fire department before your 40th birthday; it’s a very rare feat. I just came across this page that gathers statistics about fire fighter lieutenants and 74 percent are over the age of 40. Also, only 15 percent are female.
