As the snow finally decides to retreat and the greenery in Vermont timidly peeks out, signaling the arrival of warmer days, my heart does a little happy dance. This is the time when my mind starts spinning with plans for the summer. This summer, I’m planning to crank it up to 11 on the fun and adventure scale!
In the spirit of making the most out of the sunny season, I’ve scribbled down a list of things I want to do. This list isn’t in any particular order, but each item on it sparkles with the promise of making this summer absolutely unforgettable.
First off, imagine the thrill of creating a homemade slip and slide right here on the farm. There’s something so whimsically freeing about the idea, especially if I decide to embrace nature in, well, my birthday suit. And of course, it wouldn’t be half as fun without inviting some friends over to share in the laughter and inevitable epic fails as we slide our way across the yard.
Then there’s the cozy, crackling campfire I dream of having with Amelia and a circle of our closest friends. The soft glow of firelight, the comforting embrace of friends, and the chorus of night sounds around us. It’s the perfect setting for sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and just basking in the warmth of companionship.
As a proud part of the LGBTQ+ community, attending the Vermont Pride Festival is a highlight I look forward to every summer. It’s more than just a celebration; it’s a vibrant, heartwarming affirmation of love, identity, and community. Amelia and I are a married lesbian couple, and surprisingly neither of us has ever attended a Pride Festival.
A stroll through Church Street in Burlington, Vermont, is also on my list. There’s something about the bustling energy, the eclectic shops, and the street performers that make it a must-visit every summer.
Summer wouldn’t be complete without a day at the Vermont State Fair! I’m definitely planning to go to the fair with friends, have some good fair food, maybe try a few rides, and watch a demolition derby.
Lastly, but certainly not least, I want to capture the beauty of trains in Rutland, Vermont, through my lens. There’s something undeniably fascinating and timeless about trains, and photographing them in their element feels like preserving a piece of history.
My grand plan to make this summer one for the books. Whether it’s sliding in my birthday suit, basking in the warmth of a campfire, going to the state fair, or capturing the soul of Vermont through my camera, each adventure promises its own unique flavor of joy. And I can’t wait to dive in headfirst. Here’s to a summer of endless possibilities and making memories that will warm our hearts for years to come. Let’s make it unforgettable!

These plans all sound awesome and full of joy happy for you and Amelia and the good times ahead!
Thank you so much! Of course, I plan to take pictures and document the good times this summer!
Ah, you’re making me long for the warm weather!
It’s going to be nice and warm today with a gentle breeze. I have plans to do quite a bit of welding outside today! 😀
Nice! The weather here is unseasonably warm but still not warm enough to do any meaningful outside work!
What can I say besides the fact that I work hard, and play hard. Therefore, I’m likely going to be trying out my homemade slip and slide in my birthday suit. You have been warned. 😉 lol
You’ve got me thinking about making a summer fun list! Thank you for the prompt.
You’re welcome, Caroline! One thing that I intentionally left off the list was my plan to go and explore an abandoned industrial building here in Vermont that has been on my list for awhile. If and when I do explore it, I will definitely feature the story and pictures here on my blog. 🙂
